(Seasonal)

JOb DESCRIPTION

Hood Famous Bakeshop (Ballard) is seeking an enthusiastic, part-time (10 hours per week), weekend Retail + Sales Associate to join our team for the 2019 holiday season. This position plays an integral role in our small team’s ability to bring our desserts to our customers by staffing the walk-up counter in our Ballard retail location and is responsible for providing great service and good vibes during every shift. They will ring up customers, provide information about our desserts and company, tidy up the shop, light baking, working with the team to keep operations silky smooth, and most importantly provide exceptional hospitality.

We are a small scale production environment that has been wholesaling for five years and currently operate two retail locations. Our ideal candidate is reliable, possesses strong verbal/written communication skills,and must be able to work independently. As our company continues to grow, we are seeking creative, passionate, and loyal individuals to be a part of our team. A passion for baking and/or familiarity with Filipino flavors is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Retail or client/customer service experience 

  • Must hold valid food handler’s permit

  • Awesome communication skills, positive attitude and team-focused mentality 

  • Must be available to work weekends

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to lift 30lbs 

  • Ability to access stairs and stand on your feet for 5+ hours

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hospitality

    • Welcome and thank every customer

    • Possess strong communication skills to be able to:  

      • Answer customer questions 

      • Make appropriate menu suggestions

      • Take customer orders and operate Point Of Sale and cash handling procedures accurately

      • Answer the phone, take orders, and relay messages as needed

  • Shop Maintenance

    • Continually stock bakery case throughout shift

    • Light baking (cookies, tarts, etc)

    • Keep retail displays stocked and stylized with merchandise

    • Ensure catering and pre-paid orders are appropriately packaged

    • Wash trays and other dishes throughout shift

    • Keep the shop clean and inviting: wipe down surfaces, sweep, etc

    • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines

    • Follow opening and closing procedures

    • Support our wholesale program as needed (i.e. labeling, packaging, etc.)

    • Other duties as assigned

  • Brand Ambassadorship

    • Share Hood Famous Bakeshop’s history and recent/upcoming news

    • Educate customers on ingredients and flavor profiles

    • Direct customers to the different services we offer and how to reach us

COMPENSATION

  • DOE, $12/hour starting wage + tips. Average pay $16-$18 per hour with tips.

  • Monthly in-store food and beverage credit and discounts on merchandise

We are looking for someone who can adapt well to different situations. Good time management skills and positive attitudes, while working independently and alongside a team, are a must.
