JOb DESCRIPTION

Hood Famous Cafe + Bar (Chinatown-International District) is looking for a friendly, passionate, and engaging Bartender/Server to join our team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about spirits and cocktails, has previous bar and food service experience, is communicative and opening to growing and learning.

Our bar program features seasonal craft cocktails highlighting Filipino and Asia-Pacific ingredients with a digestif-forward, dessert-pairing focus using house-made syrups, shrubs, liqueurs and bitters. We also have limited beer and wine offerings, as well as non-alcoholic drinks, alongside a small plate bar food menu.

In addition to serving drinks and interacting with customers, other responsibilities include assisting the Lead Bartender and Beverage Director, plating and serving light bar food, dishwashing and bar maintenance. Familiarity with Filipino cuisine and the Chinatown-International District neighborhood is a plus.

To be considered for this position you must:

  • Be extremely punctual

  • Be flexible to work rotating shifts on evenings and weekends as needed

  • Enjoy conversations and social interactions with customers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21+ years or older

  • Must hold current MAST & Food Handler’s permits

  • Class 12 mixologist permit preferred

  • Bartending experience preferred

  • Ability to stand on your feet for 4+ hours (with breaks)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hospitality

    • Deliver exceptional service

    • Possess strong communication skills to be able to:  

      • Make appropriate menu suggestions

      • Take orders, operate POS and cash handling procedures accurately

      • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant products and services

  • Drinks and Food Prep

    • Prepare and serve drinks with quality and consistency

    • Plate and serve bar food

    • Assist with food and drink prep

    • Assist with creating in-house ingredients (syrups, shrubs, liqueurs, etc)

  • Bar Maintenance

    • Wash glasses and other dishes throughout shift

    • Maintain a clean and safe environment: wipe down surfaces, sweep, etc

    • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines

    • Follow opening and closing procedures

    • Other duties as assigned

  • Brand Ambassadorship

    • Share Hood Famous Bakeshop’s history and recent/upcoming news

    • Educate customers on ingredients and flavor profiles

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly; base pay $12 per hour (DOE based on experience). Average pay $14-$20 per hour with tips.

  • Monthly in-store food and beverage credit and discounts on merchandise
