the coffee program

We are thrilled to announce a new coffee program with a team of passionate baristas and beans acquired and roasted by Fulcrum Coffee. In theme with the historic character of the Chinatown-International District neighborhood, our coffee will focus on specialty, single-origin beans sourced from Asian countries. We will be among the first cafes in the city to offer natural-processed coffee on espresso from Menglian Daya, Yunnan, China. On batch brew, we’ll be using Kalsada Coffee from Sitio Belis, Benguet, Philippines. 12oz bags of whole beans will be available for sale. In addition to familiar espresso menu fare, we have signature drinks featuring house-made syrups with familiar Hood Famous Bakeshop flavors such as ube and pandan. Non-coffee drinks including loose-leaf Earl Grey, Jasmine, Chamomile teas and Ampalaya and Malunggay herbal teas will also be available.

QUICHES & WAFFLES (& Buko pie!)

Hood Famous Cafe + Bar’s daytime (available Mon-Thu 7am-3pm, Fri-Sun, 10am-4pm) cafe fare is centered around variations of two of our favorite cafe items: quiches and waffles. In the spirit of our flagship line of uniquely flavored cheesecakes, we’ve reimagined them with the ingredients and flavors of our home. Anchoring the menu is our new Butter Mochi Waffle, which can be eaten as a standalone item, or plated with sweet toppings including our house-made Calamansi Demerara Syrup and Seasonal Fruit, or as a savory dish with toppings such as Smoked Salmon & Calamansi Chive Cream Cheese. Our quiches are baked daily and imbued with the soul of Filipino breakfasts like Amplaya (bitter melon) & Tomato and Longanisa (sweet marinated pork sausage) & Atchara (pickled papaya relish).

Also, our lovingly-made Buko Pie, previously available at Hood Famous Bakeshop as a seasonal, online-order only item, finds a permanent home on the Cafe menu, by the slice or whole!

GRAB & GO PASTRIES

Our front-counter is flanked by two pastry cases filled with new and old grab-and-go items. On the left, a refrigerated display holds our signature line of cheesecakes (including the OG Ube!) and familiar Hood Famous Bakeshop fare such as Calamansi Bars. On the right, we’l have daily fresh-baked goods such as our signature Ube Cookies, Mochi Waffles to go, and rotating pastries.
